Beginnings and Firsts

Tuesday, March 23, 2010

There is something very special about a new beginning, a "first time."  This is a picture of my youngest son and his bride on their wedding day almost two years ago...06-07-08. This day marked the beginning of their lives together! They had "only just begun" as the song lyrics repeat...it was a beautiful wedding, their first day as husband and wife.

This past Saturday, March 20, 2010, was another first! The beginning of a new season, the first day of Spring! The weather was absolutely beautiful, and the gardener in me loves the beginning of a new season of flowers.
But the "Gran Jan" in me had another *first* this past Saturday that I would love to share with you!  A miracle of sorts, a blessing to enjoy thanks to the amazing technology of today. I laid eyes on my little grandson that isn't even born yet! Little Jackson, son of my youngest son and his sweet wife!
A FIRST! I saw my baby boy's yet unborn baby boy via the imagery of a 4-D sonogram.  It was so amazing. My son and his wife and both sets of grandparents were there.  We had a wonderful morning as we saw baby Jackson's sweet face. We can't wait to see him face to face!
Psalm 139:13-16
13  For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother's womb.
14  I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
15  My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place.
When I was woven together in the depths of the earth,
16  your eyes saw my unformed body.
All the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be.

And this last picture is another beginning...the first day my name became "Gran Jan" when little Zeke was born.  Oh the JOY, Gran Jan's JOY!

Jan, I thought of these words when I read your blog post:

How sweet to hold a newborn baby
And feel the pride and joy he gives;
But greater still the calm assurance:
This child can face uncertain days because He lives.

Easter is a week-and-a-half away!

That is amazing!!! Bill and I watched "How Great Is Our God" by Louie Giglio yesterday afternoon and I couldn't help but think of that lesson as I looked at the 4-D sonogram.

Beautiful firsts, my friend! Makes me so happy to know that this little one is set apart and special and so very loved by all that watch for the first time a face so precious!!

Please pray for our church family, friend, as we lost our worship pastor to lymphoma on Saturday. The funeral is Friday. We are all so very sad.

Seeing the 4-D sonogram of Jackson just gave me chills - what an amazing Creator we have! I am filled with joy for you Jan! What a blessing to have both sets of parents to enjoy and share in this special time. You all gathered in the room anticipating seeing Jackson's sweet form makes me think of the blessing of godly inheritance that you are leaving to your grandchildren.

And I love your daughter-in-laws ringlets on her wedding day. And the color of their lilies matches the color of the flowers in your gardening sign! Oh, the gardner in me wants to know what is blooming at the ranch? I've cut forsythia and Victoria Leigh has brought in daffodils and I'm trying to give the hyacinths a few more days before clipping.

Love you Jan.
He is risen!

I'm not sure why, but the pictures wouldn't show up for me. I'll come back later and I'm sure they will.

I memorized all of Psalm 139 for my Scripture Memorization for 2009. Loved it!
I still lie in bed and recite it often.

I'm not sure if you have seen on Facebook or my blog, but I'm going to be a grandma! (first time)!!
My daughter is due around Oct. 27.
My name is gonna be "Lolly."
I hear being a grandparent is absolutely wonderful.
I can't wait!

Happy Spring Jan!

Love,
Valerie
